FULL YACHT CHARTER REVIEW
Inspected by Us.
AFRICA I, a magnificent 47-meter yacht built by Benetti in 2010, went through several refits and now is absolutely stunning. With 12+ weeks of charter in 2021 and even a few more rescheduled for 2022, she is a true charter champion of the Mediterranean and one of the most coveted yachts for charter in SuperYachts Croatia portfolio.
AFRICA I Yacht Charter has been refitted in 2018, 2019 and 2020; since she was fitted with a brand new and modern interior, she became even more desirable as a charter yacht. From her first days on the charter market, she has been a favourite yacht among sports and music celebrities. We are especially proud of the fact AFRICA I yacht charter was the first choice of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and his family on his yachting holidays in summer 2019.
She is constructed using 100 % aluminium alloys and designed as a semi-displacement yacht, meaning she can cruise at lower speeds with exceptionally low fuel consumption and when required, move fast between Croatian islands, as her top speed reaches above 24 knots.
Noise and vibration are muffled by the construction of the hull, ensuring an almost silent cruise even at higher speeds. Putting this in the perspective of an almost 50-meter yacht is quite impressive; AFRICA I is the perfect combination of performance and luxury,
This yacht is equipped with high-tech stabilization systems. While ‘underway’ or at anchor, she uses an underwater fin stabilizer system that neutralists rolling, increasing onboard comfort, even on rough waters. It will really help you forget about the ocean swell and sleep tight no matter what happens outside.
AFRICA I yacht charter can accommodate 12 guests in 6 astonishing cabins. She is perfect for all types of charter guests – if you are looking for a family yacht charter, kids will adore playing in every corner of this yacht, as all of her staterooms are very spacious.
In addition to amazing rooms, there is also an outdoor yacht gym, as well as a dedicated massage and yoga area. Unique leisure and entertainment facilities make AFRICA I yacht charter ideal for socializing and entertaining with family and friends.
What makes this yacht even more appealing is the fact that she is 100% wheelchair accessible, which ensures that there are ‘no limits` to anyone in your charter party; enjoy everyday activities as you would in your favourite holiday home; The only difference is that, being on a AFRICA I yacht charter in Croatia you will wake up to a different spot every day, and breathe the highest quality air in Europe.
The key to achieving such a great charter reputation is her 10 yacht crew members who are always in the mood to share positive vibes and memorable experiences, revealing local secrets you will be thrilled with. Even while you are asleep, one of the crew is up and out, ensuring that everything on and around the yacht is 100% safe and sound.
If you need assistance or you simply need a licence for one of the many water toys aboard AFRICA I yacht charter, you might find a professional instructor among your crew as this yacht is an Approved RYA water centre. Enjoy all the possibilities of this yacht, brimming with countless details, where every element of her design is geared toward providing the ideal charter experience.

A DAY ON THE YACHT
Most of our guests say that there is no better way to start your day than by waking up on AFRICA I`s master suite and enjoying the 280º sea views, from your king-sized bed. Step out to your private terrace and have your morning coffee while the crystal-clear Croatian Adriatic sea beckons.
On the other hand, if you are an early riser, the AFRICA I yacht charter crew will prepare a special spot on the sun deck for early morning yoga sun salutations. Practice alone or with the help of your crew or a professional instructor and learn some amazing yoga asanas.
A discrete scent of Croatian breakfast delicacies, freshly prepared by your private yacht Chef will entice you to the main deck aft or the upper deck aft alfresco dining area, where the crew will set up a new theme for breakfast every day. No matter where you decide to dine, you and your loved ones will surely enjoy the amazing view of the Croatian islands with your breakfast.
Whether you choose an English, an American, a Mediterranean or just a freestyle breakfast, is all up to your preferences, but you must try one of the chef’s main specialities. A freshly baked croissant covered with degradable gold and local hand-planted currant jam, paired with a cup of coffee or tea and finished with a mascarpone cheesecake enriched with organic strawberries on the top. A true mouthwatering delicacy!
After breakfast, you might wish to go for a jet ski safari exploring one of the nearby islands on the latest Sea-Doo RXP 300 RS watercraft. Strong, modern, and powerful, it does not only grab attention but also makes you totally enjoy a fun and safe ride.
For those who want to know more: these watercraft are unique because of their innovative lighter platform and the Ergolock System, which maximises control at high speeds and provides more safety for recreational users (like you and me).
If you find riding the jetski uncomfortable, you might just opt for relaxing on an enormous front sun deck, reading your favourite book, and listening to the soothing sounds of Croatian summer.
When you return from your jet-ski island expeditions, your crew will welcome you with refreshing cold towels, freshly squeezed lemonade and special snacks like Broiled Lobster Tails paired with Keto Tortilla Chips, that will hold you until lunch. It is definitely time to relax now, so why not enjoy a freshwater shower on the sun deck, followed by relaxing around the jacuzzi lounge, sipping one of your favourite summer cocktails.
When everybody starts to become curious about what the chef is doing in the yacht galley, the crew will call you up for lunch served in the main salon dining area. It is that time of the day when the summer heat reaches its maximum, so you might find the air-conditioned atmosphere perfect enjoying lunch.
Just for fun, and when you are really amazed by your meals, you might want to ask your private chef for the recipe, or your crew can arrange private cooking classes only for you. Who says you cannot learn anything new while on your Croatian yacht charter vacation?
After lunch, unwind on the comfortable sofas of the living room area for a coffee break or deserts. When you want to stay informed, have a quick look at the news channels that are broadcasted by the satellite internet system. The connection is guaranteed wherever you are, and Wi-Fi is stable in any corner of this yacht.
There are two main huge screen entertaining centres: the main salon and the upper deck sky lounge. Bear in mind that every cabin is equipped with top-notch entertainment systems so you might want to relax after lunch in your private space as well.
Also, after such delicious cuisine, you might want to have a quick nap too. While you are recovering in silence, your children can play in their rooms, or in the upper deck sky lounge which is filled with a variety of educational games.
The afternoons are usually reserved either for taking out all of the yacht water toys or going to the nearest island town for a city break and sightseeing. On a perfect sunny day, we suggest “turning the adventure mode on” and having a lot of fun with water toys. Slide down the huge inflatable waterslide, snorkel, go scuba diving, glide above the waves with the foil board and take pleasure in experiencing the fun side of a yacht charter in Croatia.
Prepare to be amazed by the incredible variety of sea life or discover hidden bays with your friends – we are sure you will love every minute of it. Allow your children to enjoy themselves on the giant slide or the inflatable towables. When they are back in school with crazy stories and fun memories, they will surely be one of the coolest in class.
When the sun slowly ‘starts kissing the sea’, the AFRICA I yacht charter crew will set up a special dinner theme on the upper deck alfresco dining table. Let them prepare a wonderful feast that goes perfectly with the background of the setting sun.
Whether you like a formal or a totally informal setting, the charter crew will adhere to your wishes. The dining experience usually starts with a sunset aperitif with all guests overlooking a bronze-coloured island panorama, then counting the last seconds before the sun dips to the ocean… followed by a spectacular experience of dining under the stars.
A few hours later, some guests might wish to continue the night fun in the jacuzzi, enjoying bubbles both in the tub and in the glass of your favourite champagne. Other guests like to spend evenings with their family around the dining table saluting to another day of joy.
Once the underwater lights are on, the view over the sides of this yacht is simply amazing. You will enjoy a private aquarium atmosphere and observe underwater life through the crystal clear waters of your private bay. The kids might want a cinema evening in the sky lounge. Here, a cinema screen opens from the ceiling while the projector runs their favourite night-time story, like ‘Finding Nemo’ or “Atlantis” before going to sleep.
YACHT CHARTER DINING
For all gourmets, AFRICA I yacht charter offers a unique dining experience, that is not to be missed. Chef Dimitris is a true culinary expert and will amaze you with a surprisingly huge pallet of local and international meals.
It is important to express your food preferences clearly (up to the single spice and ingredient) and on time (at least 30 days before embarkment), so that the crew can provision accordingly. On top of that, once on-board AFRICA I yacht charter, expect nothing other than the highest quality of organic food.
When it comes to dining, Chef Dimitris has extremely high standards set through many years of culinary experience since 1999, when he started his professional Chef carrier. He is a creative, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable Chef who has worked both on yachts and in restaurants.
Passionate about every meal and careful about every plate that goes out of the galley, Dimitris perfectly balances the connection between unique local food and the preferences of yacht charter guests.
You can expect Dimitris to prepare 3 proper meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. With help from the chief Stewardess and other crew members, all meals will be arranged in perfect order and presented either by the crew or the yacht chef himself. Even more, he will supply you with innovative organic and handmade snacks in between meals, and stay at your disposal until the late hours of the night, if requested.
Lunches on AFRICA I yacht charter typically include three courses starting with couvert – a simpler meal starter, followed by either hot or cold entrée, main course and the dessert. Of course, a lighter fare can be requested.
Here is one hand-picked lunch menu sample that is typical to AFRICA I yacht charter:
- Grape leaves filled with rice paired with (or without) minced lamb meat and Mediterranean herbs.
- Cauliflower salad with sweet corn, flambeed red onions, yellow paprika, walnuts and organically grown tahini arugula salad with green and black olives, roasted walnuts, red onion & pomegranate. All perfectly paired with light and fruity Sauvignon or local Malvazija wine. This is followed by a grilled seabass, served with an orange vinegarette, basil, rosemary and garlic reduction, poured over sweet potatoes and freshly picked motar seaweed.
- As per the dessert, a light and freshly made local dish named “Rožata” cooled down to 4 degrees Celsius and served with grated white chocolate and seasonal fruit.
YACHT MAIN DECK
As soon as you walk onto the main deck, you will notice how welcoming AFRICA I yacht charter is. A few stairs above the sea`s surface, you will be greeted with handmade snacks and cocktails, as you continue your way up towards the main deck aft. You might wish to spend your entire summer vacation just around this particular spot, but hang on – this is just the first step of exploring AFRICA I.
Yacht charter accommodation: main salon & dining area
To access the main deck interior, you will walk through the well-appointed foyer that leads through the living room, to the more formal dining room ahead. Altogether, these areas form an enormous open-space main salon. The whole area is brightly lit, with plenty of windows and bright colours that emphasize openness and comfort. It is perfect for spending time with your loved ones while relaxing in maximum comfort.
The corridors are very wide with rounded corners of furniture, hip-high and wheelchair accessible, making it extremely easy to move around. Every admirer of good yacht design will be enthralled by this ingeniously decorated living & dining room.
A central glass table is transformed into a formal dining table within minutes as all the storages are nearby, but also hidden from sight; this area is perfect for celebrating special occasions. The ceiling is covered with polished marble that reflects the sea`s surface, and the small waves alongside the yacht, through large windows, directly onto the glass dining table. You will feel as if you are having a meal on the very surface of the sea.
Going forward on the main deck, to port is the crew area. Starting with the pantry, the food serving area, and the galley together with the separate staircase leading down to the crew mess and the crew quarters, as well as the separate crew exit to the outside of the interior.
If the crew would not be walking in and out of this area, serving the main salon, you would never say that there is a ‘small factory behind that wall’. Highly sophisticated soundproof materials were used in building yacht partitions, as well as a strong air exhaust, so charter guests can enjoy complete silence while dining or relaxing in the living room area.
Towards the yacht bow, moving on the starboard side from the main salon, you enter the main hallway with stairs leading up to the upper deck, or down to the lower deck. Standing in this hallway you might get a feeling you are standing in a designer’s hotel lobby, as it is fully decorated with a combination of glossy and mat wood materials, as well as different ornaments.
The hallway also contains a spacious day head with a full standing shower box and all amenities which can rarely be found in such form, on a yacht of this size. The hydraulic gates to the exterior on the starboard are placed perfectly in the centre of the yacht. These gates shorten the trip from the front sundeck to the cabins below deck by half, for anyone that had forgotten their cell phone or a favourite book.
Continuing forward towards the bow, you enter the enormous master suite area. Just behind the massive private entrance doors, there is a lobby usually arranged as a kid’s playroom, with a lot of international educational games stored on the shelves on the starboard side, and a separated twin bunk bedroom/playground on the port side of the master suite corridor.
When chartering in an adults-only environment, this space converts to a nice lobby with a huge walk-in wardrobe and storage. Organized as a modular space with moving walls it can also be closed and used just as invisible storage behind the wall or a secret room…
Yacht charter accommodation: the master stateroom
Exactly three stairs up, behind a soundproof door, the master stateroom awaits. This accommodation, among all other areas on this yacht, is the place where you can recognize the difference between a Benetti-made yacht…and all others.
It is not only about the size of the berth and its height that gives a 280º degree view of the yacht`s surroundings or the enormous en-suite bathroom with top-down windows, but it is also about a million little details present in the interior design. The master stateroom on AFRICA I yacht charter is an absolute tribute to well thought out interior decor and a masterpiece of well-appointed space.
Anyone who would like to relax on a yacht and enjoy easy access to the bright skies will be delighted to discover a private terrace attached to the master stateroom on AFRICA I yacht charter. Because of this amenity, every morning can look like a postcard, where you wake up to a rising sun and enjoy morning peace on the private terrace, while gentle wavelets splash against the hull of the yacht.
YACHT LOWER DECK
AFRICA I yacht charter has four decks: main, lower, upper and sundeck. The lower deck is dedicated to the guest cabins. Following the stairs from the main hallway, the first thing you will notice is the width of the walking corridor, the height of the stairway, and the surface of each stair tread.
No matter how ‘tired’ charter guests are, there is no chance they will miss a stair, jeopardizing their balance when walking down the stairs at any time of the day. Many of the yachts, even bigger in size and volume, have missed thinking about this particular detail and yet, when it comes to yacht charter guests, this detail might be a ‘life saver’.
From the main hall on the lower deck, you can reach private entrances to four cabins that can accommodate eight guests in total. Towards the stern and somewhat amidship, are two double cabins with berths facing forward.
Towards the bow, there are two twin cabins each with 2 separate single beds facing backwards. On a family yacht charter, these two twin cabins are mostly used by the children while parents use VIP double across the hallway. Following this kind of arrangement allows every guest to have enough space of their own.
All cabins on the lower deck are fully equipped with a special sound surround, soundproof doors, a private entertainment system, electric shades, and privately controlled air-conditioning. All the cabins have en-suite bathrooms, paved with Bisazza mosaics, a spacious shower cabin, lots of vanity storage and amenities that are up-to-par with a five-star hotel.
YACHT UPPER DECK
The entrance to the upper deck is reachable from the main deck interior stairway or from the exterior main deck aft stairway on the starboard side. Both walking corridors are spacious and two adults can comfortably pass one another, without any contact.
The interior plan of AFRICA I’s upper deck consists of a VIP double cabin with a private entrance from the main corridor on the starboard side and an upper deck day head to port. Towards the yacht`s bow, there is an upper deck pantry and a crew entrance to the bridge.
The pantry is vertically situated above the galley, so all the food and beverages come quickly to the upper deck via a food elevator. Towards the stern of the yacht, there is a sky lounge and an exit to the exterior upper deck aft area with an alfresco dining table, bar, and loungers.
The upper deck VIP double cabin is a favourite among young couples and guests of a younger generation. It is perfectly appointed with light colours upholstery and vivid details, situated in such a place that has more privacy than any other double cabin on this yacht.
A huge top-bottom window ensures amazing morning or sunset panoramas. When covered with three layers of electrically controlled shades, it becomes pitch black. There is a private walk-in closet, a vanity table and an entertainment centre; it is also the second-most spacious and most equipped cabin on AFRICA I yacht charter.
The upper deck sky lounge is also one of the highlights of this yacht, making her stand out on the yacht charter market. Firstly, it is equipped with two LCD TV screens, each facing the other so nothing is missed. It is an open space area, full of light, and with 280º bird-eye views of the yacht`s surroundings.
On the port side, there is a bar with bar chairs and a food serving area. A cards table is placed towards the stern, while the starboard side houses a well-appointed living room lounge with sofas and comfortable chairs.
When it gets darker, or with the help of electrically managed shades, the whole sky lounge transforms into a private cinema within minutes. It has a professional 8K Sony cinema system and a special cinematic sound surround system.
The cinema screen of almost 3 meters comes down from the ceiling, while an inexhaustible collection of movies becomes a source of inspiration for endless movie marathon nights. With a stable connection to the internet, you can also play content from any of your devices.
Going outside AFRICA I yacht charter towards the stern is the dining table. When it comes to alfresco dining under the stars, this is the place to be. Usually, yacht charter guests prefer having either breakfast or dinner around this area, or even on the same day. During the day, the crew will stretch out the sun blinds and the whole area can be transformed into a small sundeck or a sun lounge.
YACHT SUNDECKS
AFRICA I yacht charter has over 350 square meters of exterior spaces all of which can be easily named as sundecks. The biggest sun deck is the entire second upper deck. Climbing up from the first upper deck using the stairway, you arrive in an open deck area at the “top of the yacht”. This deck is specially dedicated to relaxing under the sun with optional sun blinds covering most of the area.
It consists of a big jacuzzi tub fit for six adults on the bow, alongside a jacuzzi lounge spacious enough to hold a big private party. Moving towards the stern, more amidship, is a bar and two cocktail tables and comfortable lounge furniture for the whole charter group.
At the aft of this sundeck, there is an open plan of almost 30 square meters reserved for sun pads, lungers and sunbathing accessories. This sundeck is also often used as an exercise area for yacht charter guests, as it is packed full of features including a gym and exercise gear. You might get to experience yoga sun salutations or a “sunset cycling workout” on this sundeck. It is even spacious enough to set up a circular exercise course, with weights and other gym equipment.
Situated on the upper deck, ahead of the captain’s helm station, there is a front sun deck. This area is nicely arranged with huge sun pads and covered by stretch-out blinds that extend over 20 square meters of comfortable sun lounging space. This is a perfect spot for relaxing when berthed in a busy coastal Croatian town, with the yacht`s stern facing the shore. This way, you are hidden from the prying eyes.
YACHT BEACH CLUB & SWIMMING PLATFORM
On AFRICA I yacht charter, the entire transom opens and transforms the stern into a very spacious swimming platform. Only a few steps down from the main deck, with entrances from both sides, you will find yourself in a private yacht beach club.
You can use the swimming platform on AFRICA I yacht charter to practice crazy jumps into the warm sea or use the nearby swimming ladders to gently lower yourself into the water. When you emerge from the sea, refreshed but salty, rinse yourself off with the freshwater shower, smartly integrated into the architecture of AFRICA I`s beach club.
Ask your crew to prepare lounge chairs and low tables, so you could bring the inside out and raise your luxury yacht experience to the next level. Champagne, cocktails, canapes and other snacks will be readily available for all guests who decide to spend their time on the swimming platform on AFRICA I.
You can also arrange a personal yoga instructor, with whom you can practice on the swimming platform, near the water`s edge. This type of yoga exercise will bring you closer to nature, while also balancing the relationship between your body and mind.
Another possibility is exercising with weights and other gym equipment on AFRICA I`s swimming platform – after you are done with your workout, just jump straight into the sea, for instant refreshment.
Finally, your dedicated and hard-working crew can hire a professional massage therapist, who will set up a massage table as close to the surface of the sea as possible. This way, the movement of the sea can add to the experience of being massaged on the swimming platform of your yacht charter.
YACHT WATER TOYS & WATER SPORTS
Once the yacht crew take all the water toys out from the garage, the yacht crew will also set up a huge inflatable dock which will expand the beach club and swimming platform area and ensure the safe approach to three jet skis, Sea bobs and many other water toys at hand.
AFRICA I yacht charter will appeal to active yacht charter guests, as this yacht is an approved RYA water sports centre meaning you can get officially licensed for any water toy within your yacht charter period. A large lineup of water toys includes the Scorpion 7.5m chase tender as well as jet ski driving and scuba diving.
AFRICA I yacht charter crew are qualified divers and there are several full diving sets available, for those guests wanting to explore the Croatian Adriatic seabed. There are numerous sunken ships and planes scattered across the Croatian Adriatic, so you can ask your crew about the closest location. Re-arrange your charter itinerary and find the time to properly explore incredible underwater sites, coral reefs, blue lagoons and fantastic rock formations.
It is a smart choice to let your yacht captain find a nice quiet area in the middle of the crystal clear Croatian Adriatic sea and pick one exciting water toy next to the swimming platform. Riding a jet-ski, diving with a Sea bob, easy cruising with a paddleboard or a thrilling race with a wakeboard, crew members will teach you all the basics but also keep everyone safe.
Let the crew arrange tournaments and championships, incorporating one or all of the available water toys on AFRICA I – think of special prizes that will spice up your overall charter holiday in Croatia.

He will drive you to hidden beaches and bays by tender. Before he joined the yachting industry, he worked as a certified personal trainer for many years. Savvas is happy to be a part of the yachting industry and is looking forward to the opportunity to spend time sailing, seeing new places and learning about different cultures sailing the Mediterranean.
